My BMW App*.
The My BMW App* connects you virtually with your BMW whenever and wherever you wish and, thanks to its modern design, intuitive operation and comprehensive functions, offers you a completely new experience of mobility. When using it, you not only have the status of your vehicle constantly in view, such as the charge level or available range, but are also able to interact with and program your vehicle very conveniently on your smartphone. For instance, you can plan your journey in advance and in comfort on your smartphone and then simply send your destination to the navigation system in your vehicle. At the same time, the My BMW App* will always show you the nearest public charging station along with its availability. During the charging operation, you keep track of the current charge level at all times and can precondition the interior of your vehicle as ideal preparation for the journey – or set a corresponding timer to do this. You will also find details on all the previous charging operations as well as your BMW Points allocation in the My BMW App. With these and many other functions and services, the My BMW App* assures you of carefree mobility and even more sheer electric driving pleasure – regardless of where you happen to be.
Connected Charging.
Farewell to range anxiety: with BMW Connected Charging you use the range of your BMW electric car particularly efficiently. You have already planned your journey on your smartphone via the My BMW App* and sent it to your vehicle, whereupon the navigation system automatically calculates the optimum route and displays it for you. If the destination lies outside of the available electric range of your vehicle, which you can view at any time via the range radius, a charging stop will be added to your route automatically. This means that you always have all the relevant information at your fingertips: type of plug required, available charging currents, opening times and costs for the charging station as well as points of interest in the direct surroundings, such as a cafe or restaurant. When travelling, you can call on the voice-controlled BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant at any time for answers and helpful tips. For instance, try asking: “Hey BMW, how can I increase my range?”
BMW eDrive Zones & BMW Points.
All over the world, more and more cities are setting up areas in which the traffic is either prohibited entirely or only permitted to a limited extent. In German cities, for example, you will encounter so-called environmental zones, which reduce the burden of exhaust fumes and CO2 emissions locally by limiting the pollutant quantities. In order to enable and promote emission-free travel through these environmental zones to the greatest extent possible, we have developed BMW eDrive Zone. Your BMW plug-in hybrid thus recognises automatically when it is entering an environmental zone and switches over independently to a locally emission-free, purely electric driving mode. Every kilometre you cover electrically brings you bonus points which you collect as part of the BMW Points scheme, and in the specific inner-city zones and environmental zones, the number of points actually doubles. You can view and manage them in the My BMW App*. The BMW Points can then be converted into useful rewards, such as free BMW Charging allowances.

FAQ: THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ON CHARGING.
What is BMW Charging?
BMW Charging is the 360° stress-free solution for charging your BMW. With BMW Charging products and services, you have a wide range of tailor-made options for charging at home and on the road. The charging cable for public charging (Mode 3) and the BMW Charging Card are already included as standard. This gives you access to a network of over 450,000 charging points** worldwide – in city centres, car parks, and along major motorways. You can even access high-power charging points for ultra-fast charging. In addition, most vehicles come with the Flexible Fast Charger for flexible charging at home. Further BMW Charging offers can be added according to your needs, such as wallboxes for even more convenient charging at home. Whether it's charging hardware, digital services, or support – our offers cover it all. Even an installation service for your wallbox or a special green electricity tariff for charging at home.

Depending on the model, the standard charging cable (Mode 2) or the Flexible Fast Charger is included when you buy an electrified BMW – so you can charge your vehicle with any standard household socket. The Flexible Fast Charger can also be used – with a suitable adapter cable available separately – at industrial sockets with a maximum power of up to 11 kW.
For added convenience, speed, and safety, you can select a wallbox to significantly reduce charging times when compared to standard household sockets.
Two models are available:

For example, you can integrate your Home Energy Management System (HEMS), a remote control, and ensure the precise metering and billing of individual charges at home.
What do I need to consider before selecting a home charging solution?
Before selecting a home charging solution, you should check the connection conditions of the power company providing electricity to your home.
Can I drive an electric vehicle if I have no charging option at home?
Of course: simply use the constantly growing public charging network from BMW Charging or, depending on your local options, other charging stations like at work. The My BMW app or the navigation system in your vehicle will show you public charging points nearby. You can also find a geographical overview of the public charging infrastructure for Europe at www.BMW-Charging.com. With your new BMW, in addition to the exclusively attractive prices, the basic fee is waived in certain tariffs and packages with BMW Charging.

* Offer varies by market. How can I check the charging status?
Easy. Use the My BMW app* in your smartphone or in the car to see the current status and the available range of your electric vehicle.
What are the optimal battery charge levels for my BMW electric car?
It’s best to maintain a charge of between 10 and 80 per cent. Lower or higher levels are possible, but to optimise the life of your battery, it is recommended to stay between 10 and 80 per cent. In your vehicle’s menu, you can easily and conveniently set your target charge to 80 per cent, so you’ll never have to worry about it.
A target charge of 80 per cent should cover all your daily driving needs. If you actually need more, simply set a higher target. What should I look out for when charging my BMW plug-in hybrid?
As its name suggests, a plug-in hybrid can be charged from a socket, a Wallbox or at a public charging station. The maximum efficiency of a plug-in hybrid is achieved with a fully charged battery; which means that a charging facility should be available at home and at the workplace. Charge your BMW plug-in hybrid as often as possible so that you can always make full use of the additional electric drive.
What should I take into consideration when charging from a standard household socket?
It is prohibited to use an extension cable and multi-plug connectors. A charging rate of 1.3 kW at 6 A is set as the default. You can either switch this current limitation off entirely in the vehicle settings menu or set the AC charging current to the precise amperage according to your electrical installation.
Who will install my Wallbox or an industrial socket for the BMW Flexible Fast Charger at my home?
You can quite simply book our installation service along with your Wallbox. This guarantees that your Wallbox is installed and set up safely and professionally. Incidentally, the service can also be booked for our efficient industrial socket if you wish to use your Flexible Fast Charger with the appropriate adapter at home.
What is the difference between charging with alternating current (AC), direct current (DC) and a high power charging point (HPC)?
Basically, the time needed to charge will vary. For electric vehicles, charging takes longer with alternating current (AC) – depending on the cable and charging point – and direct current (DC)* is significantly faster. Ultra-fast charging via direct current (DC)* is possible at High Power Charging (HPC)* charging stations, which are offered by our partner IONITY in Europe. The battery of a BMW iX, for example, can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in less than 40 minutes with a maximum power of 200 kW. The maximum power output at a charging point depends on the local infrastructure.
Please note: when charging DC and HPC, you should hold the charging plug on the vehicle until the plug is locked. This ensures that the charging process starts without a problem.
* Currently only relevant for BMW electric vehicles. How do I get a High Power Charging tariff option?
IIn Europe, BMW Charging includes IONITY's High Power Charging (HPC) network – and you will receive a BMW Charging Card as soon as your vehicle is delivered. For new customers of BMW dealers and branches, the basic fee is waived for one year in certain charging tariffs and packages. For new BMW electric vehicles, the IONITY Plus package is included with no basic fee for one year. All you need to do is register for BMW Charging, choose a charging contract with the Active tariff and, in less than 24 hours, you can start charging. A BMW iX, for example, can get charged ultra-fast with IONITY. Comprehensive information on public charging including IONITY can be found at www.bmw-charging.com
Can I also drive longer distances with my BMW electric car?
Yes, no problem. For particularly fast charging, you can use the High-Power Charging (HPC) stations of our partner IONITY along the main European motorways. The My BMW app or the navigation system in the vehicle will show you right where they are. All you need to do is set a search filter. With a BMW iX, for example, you can charge up for over 120 kilometres of additional reach with a short coffee break of around ten minutes. If you take a longer break at an HPC charging station, you can charge the BMW iX from 10 to 80 per cent in about 40 minutes – whether you can take advantage of the vehicle’s maximum power handling of up to 200 kW depends on the local infrastructure. Access to the IONITY network is available through BMW Charging at particularly attractive conditions.
What’s the best way to prepare my vehicle for the next trip?
Heating and cooling require energy. For that reason, it makes sense to bring your vehicle to the desired temperature while it’s still plugged in, so you can start your trip with the maximum range. It’s easy to set the departure time and “pre-condition” to the desired climate using the My BMW app or the vehicle menu. That way, you’ll have a full charge and the perfect temperature right when you’re ready to leave – automatically.
What are the differences between a BMW Wallbox and a Smart Partner Wallbox?
The BMW Wallbox ensures fast, safe, and convenient charging at home. The wallbox can be connected to the My BMW app via Bluetooth and managed by the user. For many BMW drivers, the BMW Wallbox is the right solution.
However, there are some drivers who have additional requirements for a home charging solution that offers additional functions, such as remote access to the wallbox or intelligent management of charging processes.
For this purpose, BMW Charging offers you the Smart Partner Wallbox ""XXX (model)"" from our Premium Partner ""YYY (name partner)"". This solution is even more deeply networked via SIM card or WiFi, and it can also communicate with external systems. For example, the Smart Partner Wallbox can be integrated into an existing Home Energy Management System (HEMS) so that, for example, self-generated solar power can also be utilised to the fullest. Digital services, e.g. for the exact recording, documentation, and billing of charging processes, are also possible with the Smart Partner Wallbox.
